چکیده
ABSTRACT: Background: Intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome are potentially life-threatening conditions. Measuring intra-abdominal pressure helps identify patients developing hypertension, which allows for timely intervention before progression to syndrome. It is often measured by the bedside nurse in intensive care unit, who plays a key role managing critically ill recognizing potential causes clinical deterioration. Therefore, they should be knowledgeable about this entity.Aim: The aim of study was assess nurses’ knowledge practice regarding measurement prevention. Design: A descriptive exploratory design utilized study. Subject: convenience sample 60 male female nurses. Setting: carried out at unit cardiac units Kom Hamada Itay el Baroad Hospital. Data collection tools: two tools were used data collection(I) Knowledge assessment questionnaire: included (a) Socio-demographic (b) Nurses’ related measurement, intra- (II): observational checklist: To nurses' practices measurement. Results: results showed that most studied nurses (80%) had poor all items complications moreover, (71.7%) an unsatisfactory level Conclusion: critical Nurses' understanding generally falling short areas presentation outcomes, necessitating tailored targeted educational interventions.

Comparison of Intra-abdominal Pressure Measurement and Physical Exam for Diagnosis of Surgery Indication in Patients with Abdominal Compartment Syndrome due to Blunt Trauma
Background & Aims: Increase in abdominal pressure can lead to the so-called intra–abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) that is often observed during the first 24 hours after sever abdominal trauma and surgery. Measurement of the intra abdominal pressure through the bladder as a non-invasive measurement can provide a quick and accurate assessment of abdominal pressure changes. This study was per...

A compartment syndrome exists when increased pressure in a closed anatomic space threatens the viability of the tissue within the compartment. When this occurs in the abdominal cavity it threatens not only the function of the intra-abdominal organs, but it can have a devastating effect on distant organs as well. Recent animal and human data suggest that the adverse effects of elevated intra-abd...

The pressure within the abdominal cavity is normally little more than atmospheric pressure. However, even small increases in intra-abdominal pressure can have adverse effects on renal function, cardiac output, hepatic blood flow, respiratory mechanics, splanchnic perfusion and intracranial pressure. Although intra-abdominal pressure can be measured directly, this is invasive and bedside measure...
متن کاملAwareness and knowledge of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome: results of an international survey.
BACKGROUND Surveys have demonstrated a lack of physician awareness of intra-abdominal hypertension and abdominal compartment syndrome (IAH/ACS) and wide variations in management of these conditions, with many intensive care units (ICUs) reporting that they do not measure intra-abdominal pressure (IAP). We sought to determine the association between publication of the 2006/2007 World Society of ...
متن کاملAssessment of intensivists' knowledge on abdominal compartment syndrome.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES : Early recognition of abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) is essential, as delay in the diagnosis may induce a negative impact on prognosis. However, there are some evidences suggesting a low level of knowledge concerning ACS in intensive care units (ICU). The aim of this study was to evaluate the intensivist's knowledge on ACS. METHODS We distributed 49 questionna...
